Frame Your Article

Much of the framing on this site is geared towards framing an entire newspaper, magazine or comic. Sometimes you might wish to frame an article from a newspaper or magazine. If the article is on a single page and the article is rectangular (see below), then you can frame it like you would a normal newspaper or magazine. You don't need a quote from me, just go ahead and order a frame. When you select your frame, you will give the dimensions of the article instead of the entire page. If you would like your article drymounted, then then the information on this page can be used.

You can read more on Dry Mounging here.

Many times, however, the article spans more than one page, or in the case of a magazine, you would also like to frame the cover. thePaperFramer can do this framing for you. Since each article is different, I will provide a quote for you based on the article and how you would like it framed.

Multipage articles are commonly framed in a vertical or horizontal arraingement as shown below. Other configurations are possible and will depend on the number of pages being framed and their sizes. You can ask for a particular arraingement or ask we for a reccomendation.

What I need to prepare a quote for you

1. Which frame you would like to use. I would happy to quote several different frames.
2. How many pieces is the article in?
3. The size of each part of the article? If a piece is not rectangular (see below), then I need the dimensions of each side.
4. Will the masthead or cover be framed? If so, The dimensions are needed.
5. Would you like this framed vertically, horizontally, or in some other configuration.
6. Your shipping zip code (so I can include a shipping quote also).

Once I have all this, then I will prepare and email the quote back to you. Once you accept the quote, I will send you a paypal invoice for the total which you can pay with any credit card, even if you don't have a paypal account. You will then send me the article and let me know what your choice is for the mat color for your frame.

Send me this information in an email or fill out the Quote form below. Click here to send me an email.

The form below can be used when all pieces are rectangular. If any of the pieces are not rectangular, then email me with the information above including the size of each piece and a picture or drawing showing the dimensions of each part.

How to send me your article

You can send your article to :

Larry Peterson
thePaperFramer.Com
75 Mary St
Ashley, PA 18706

You should pack your article between two pieces of cardboard and mark "Do Not Bend" on the package.

How your article is framed

Your framed article includes the frame of your choice, one mat of your choice and Framing Grade Acrylic. When I provide you with a quote, I will also include pricing for optional glazing upgrades to Non-Glare, UV Protective and UV/Non Glare. You can read more on your framing choices at my page on Acrylic.

Your article will be dry mounted before framing. Dry mounting will remove most, if not all, wrinkles from most paper. Dry mounting is a permanent mounting process where the art is glued to a mounting board, using heat and pressure. The mounting board is usually a foam core board, but other boards can be used depending on the circumstances of how the art will be used. A tissue type adhesive is placed between the art and the mounting board. This combination is then inserted into a vacuum press and heated up to activate the adhesive while the press applies pressure. Dry mounting is not reversible. The article is permanently adhered to the mounting board. For most drymounting I use black foam core board which prevents you from seeing the back of the article. When white foam core board is used, you can sometimes see what is printed on the other side of the paper. The black foam core prevents this.
